COVID-19: 6 inmates released from district jail Kupwara | KNO

Kupwara, Apr 07 (KNO): Authorities in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday released six jail inmates after the recommendation of high powered committee to decongest the jails in view of Covid-19 threat. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), six inmates who were lodged at district jail Kupwara were released today in view of Covid-19 threat. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) District Jail Kupwara, Shahbaz Hussain said to decongest the jails as recommended by the high powered committee in view of Covid-19 threat, six inmates were released today. He said that they have furnished a list of jail inmates and submitted it to district magistrate for further necessary action. “Several other inmates lodged in district jail Kupwara will be released after getting nod from the higher ups,” he said. SSP said that the process to release several other inmates will be initiated in a day or two and those who are under PSA detention will also be released—(KNO)
